Thank fuck for the dvd player in these times of reality tv. I’m currently working my way through The Wire boxsets and during one episode I heard the most unmistakeable voice.
Meet Calvin “Cheese” Wagstaff a.k.a The Method Man
And this is probably where I first heard that voice. His first Wu feature tune I think
I threw my 30 quid into The Specials pension fund the other night and have to say it was one of my favourite ever gigs. There was no soul seaching required by me about the missing Dammers, I’ve loved this band since I was a kid and that’s all I needed to know.
Best bits: Hype crowd, pint pots flying mayhem. Realizing just how relevant the songs still are today
Worst bits: The Hen Do style Pork Pie hats. The shouts of ’Rude Boy’ after every tune wore a bit thin
This is from the following nights show but gives you an idea of the atmosphere
Out of all of the records I’ve ever bought I think this one is the closest to have been purchased purely for the sleeve. It’s still in the record box next door and can’t have been played for a decade. Maybe it should just go on the wall.
Went to Clwb Ifor Bach (Little Ifor’s Club) on Thursday to watch the fantastic Bowerbirds. A great little place where you can get up close and really enjoy a band. The perfect place to watch these.
